Twelve Alive!

CNN is now breaking the story that 12 miners have been found alive!

I am ecstatic, having known a number of fellows who've worked in the mines over the years. Have been watching this rather closely from the road.

Coal mining, if you didn't know, or just didn't believe it, is probably about the worst job you could imagine. I realize that almost half our electricity comes from coal, but sending men underground to work in the cold, in a shaft that could collapse or emit toxic levels of invisible gases... well, it's just dreadful to think about the risks.

Let's see if there's some more coverage of the company that owns this mine to see what standard operating procedures are, and how this happened.
